The Long and the Short of it (PART 2)...

Speaking of haircuts... you know, since we were a week or two ago when my youngest, Nevin, went from moppy to shorty-short.
My oldest child, Ashton
(who, by the way, cares ZERO PERCENT what he looks like usually)
decided to go from a SHORT BUZZ hair cut.....
(This pic was taken just 7 months ago)

to the long and shaggy, Zac Efron look!!!
(this was taken just last week)

UHHH!??!?!!? Can we say "GREW UP OVERNIGHT?????"
But seriously, he is a CRAZY awesome son! If a kid could ever be so CLOSE to perfect,
it would be Ashton! He is so sweet, loving, helpful, and funny!
I wish I could have 10 of him! He is so fun to be around and
SOOOOOO much like his father!!!

The Long and the Short of it....

My long-haired hippie boy, Nevin,

got a haircut.

Now he no longer gets mistaken for a girl.

BOYS = GROSS

I was changing Nevin's diaper today and just as I got his new diaper on, he "tooted"! (That's generally how the big kids refer to it.)

Nevin gets a big grin on his face and says "Mommy, Mommy! I burped in my diaper!"

Nice visual, Nevin. Nice.

Totally Psyched!... PART ONE

We had an absolutely amazing time at the National Hearts at Home Conference this weekend in Bloomington! A group of us girls went....Myself, Kara, Devin, Jen, Laura, Ann, and Stephanie. We had such a great "girl" time! The workshops were so awesome and the Keynote Speaker, Dr. Kevin Leman was FANTASTIC!!! We did so much laughing, but more importantly, we walked away with a wealth of knowledge! I left feeling RELAXED, REJUVENATED, and REFRESHED! It's a wonderful reminder that Christ needs to be the center of our life and our homes are OUR mission field!!!

One of my favorite parts of the conference was the entertainment! We saw Go Fish...live and in concert! For those of you that don't know, Go Fish is a group of Christian dads that sing (non-annoying) children's music! A lot of their music is based on the Bible. Some of the songs are just fun! But they sound GREAT!!! I encourage you to check this group out if you have young children! My kids absolutely LOVE it! They are already singing along!! This is no "Wiggles" ladies! You are gonna be crankin' this CD up even AFTER you drop off the kids!!!

Go check 'em out now!!!

MORE TO COME........

Their Biggest Fan....

For those of you who don't know, we are living with my mom and dad while we are finishing our house. Recently they got 2 little cocker spaniel puppies! They are so cute! AND popular too!!! The kids adore the pups! When the kids wake up in the morning, they skip snuggle time with us and go straight to the kitchen to see the dogs!!!

My little Nolan....he is a loyal fan. He is crazy about the dogs! His face lights up when he sees them! The problem is that he is so ROUGH! He tries to hold them, pull their tails, cover them up with a blanket, throw their toys AT them, etc...... He never does it to be mean, but he just gets too excited! It's quite exhausting to keep an eye on these three when they are all together!

Song for a Fifth Child

I stole this poem from one of my very favorite blogs- www.mycharmingkids.net! I absolutely LOVED it and had to share it with you! How true it is!

Song for a Fifth Child

Mother, O Mother, come shake out your cloth,
Empty the dustpan, poison the moth,
Hang out the washing, make up the bed,
Sew on a button and butter the bread.

Where is the mother whose house is so shocking?
She's up in the nursery, blissfully rocking.

Oh, I've grown as shiftless as Little Boy Blue,
Lullabye, rockabye, lullabye loo.
Dishes are waiting and bills are past due
Pat-a-cake, darling, and peek, peekaboo

The shopping's not done and there's nothing for stew
And out in the yard there's a hullabaloo
But I'm playing Kanga and this is my Roo
Look! Aren't his eyes the most wonderful hue?
Lullabye, rockaby lullabye loo.

The cleaning and scrubbing can wait till tomorrow
But children grow up as I've learned to my sorrow.
So quiet down cobwebs; Dust go to sleep!
I'm rocking my baby and babies don't keep.
